Permanent Jewellery FAQs
What is permanent jewellery?
Permanent jewellery is a clasp-free chain or bracelet that is micro-welded directly onto your wrist, ankle, or neck. Welded Bonds by Created By Lau offers a range of premium permanent jewellery styles, all fitted and welded by hand at our West Yorkshire studio.
Does the welding process hurt?
Not at all. The micro-welding process is quick, safe, and completely painless. There's no heat applied to your skin — just a small spark that fuses the chain ends together in seconds.
How long does permanent jewellery last?
With proper care, permanent jewellery can last for years. At Welded Bonds by Created By Lau we offer four metal options, each with excellent longevity: Stainless Steel and 14k PVD Gold Stainless Steel are highly resistant to tarnishing, water, and everyday wear. Sterling Silver develops a natural patina over time and can be polished to restore its shine. Gold Filled offers a thick layer of real gold and is far more durable than gold-plated alternatives, making it a beautiful long-lasting choice. All options are designed to be worn continuously.
Where does the welding take place?
All permanent jewellery sessions take place at our studio in West Yorkshire. You can book a one-to-one welding appointment directly through the Created By Lau website.
Is permanent jewellery suitable for sensitive skin?
We offer four metal options to suit different skin types. Stainless Steel and 14k PVD Gold Stainless Steel are both hypoallergenic and nickel-safe, making them the best choice for very sensitive skin. Gold Filled contains a thick layer of real gold bonded to a base metal and is generally well-tolerated by most skin types. Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver and is suitable for most people, though those with a silver sensitivity may prefer one of our gold options. If you're unsure which metal is right for you, our studio team are happy to advise at your appointment.
Can permanent jewellery be removed?
Yes — it can be cut off with a small pair of scissors or wire cutters if needed. It won't damage your skin. Many clients choose to have it re-welded if they ever need to remove it temporarily.
