Handmade Jewellery FAQs
Are your handmade pieces truly one of a kind?
Yes — every piece in the Created By Lau handmade collection is made by hand in our West Yorkshire studio. Natural variations in resin, polymer clay, and materials mean no two pieces are ever exactly alike, making each one uniquely yours.
What materials do you use in your handmade jewellery?
Our handmade collection uses a range of carefully chosen materials including resin, polymer clay, recycled beads, freshwater pearls, dried botanicals, textiles, and glitter. We love combining unexpected textures and finishes to create pieces that are truly one of a kind. Where possible we use recycled and sustainable materials in line with our no-waste ethos.
Are your earrings suitable for sensitive ears?
We use a range of metals across our handmade collection, so there's an option to suit most skin types. Stainless Steel is hypoallergenic and nickel-safe, making it the best choice for very sensitive ears. Sterling Silver (92.5% pure silver) and Gold Filled (a thick layer of real gold bonded to a base metal) are both well-tolerated by most people. Gold Plated and Silver Plated options are suitable for general wear, though those with metal sensitivities may prefer Sterling Silver, Gold Filled, or Stainless Steel alternatives. Always check the individual product listing for the specific metal used, or get in touch and we'll help you find the right piece for you.
How should I care for my handmade jewellery?
To keep your handmade pieces looking their best, avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfume, and direct sunlight. Store them in a cool, dry place — ideally in the pouch or box they arrive in. Resin pieces are durable but should be handled with care to avoid scratching.
Where is Created By Lau jewellery made?
Every piece is designed and handmade by Laura in our studio in West Yorkshire, England. We're proud to be a truly independent, local maker — rooted in the Yorkshire craft scene.
Do you use sustainable or recycled materials?
Yes — sustainability is important to us. Our handmade collection includes pieces made with recycled beads, offcut resin, and a no-waste approach to production. We're continually working to reduce our environmental impact.
